Abstract:
The gas chromatographic method is used to determine simultaneously the fructose, glucose and sucrose contents in cane juices and syrups and in cane molasses. This method is designated the ICUMSA Official (Reference) method; it is the method that ICUMSA recommends for the Determination of Glucose, Fructose and Sucrose in Cane Juices, Syrups and Molasses in preference to Method GS7/4/8-23 and Method GS7/8/4-24.

Mixed Juice Precision.
For (9 to 13 g/100 g sucrose in mixed juice, the absolute difference between two results obtained under repeatability conditions should be not greater than 0.05 g/100 g.
The absolute difference between two results on such samples obtained under reproducibility conditions should be not greater than 0.10 g/100 g.
For (0.2 to 1) g/100 g glucose in juice, the absolute difference between two results obtained under repeatability conditions should be not greater than 0.02 g/100 g.
The absolute difference between two results obtained in such samples under reproducibility conditions should be not greater than 0.08 g/100 g.
For (0.2 to 1) g/100 g fructose in juice, the absolute difference between two results obtained under repeatability conditions should be not greater than 0.02 g/100 g.
The absolute difference between two results obtained on such samples under reproducibility conditions should be not greater than 0.05 g/100 g.
Molasses Precision
For (30 to 34) g/100 g sucrose in molasses, the absolute difference between two results obtained under repeatability conditions should be not greater than 0.25 g/100 g.
The absolute difference between two results on such samples obtained under reproducibility conditions should be not greater than 0.45 g/100 g.
For (1 to 5) g/100 g glucose in molasses, the absolute difference between two results obtained under repeatability conditions should be not greater than 0.12 g/100 g.
The absolute difference between two results obtained in such samples under reproducibility conditions should be not greater than 0.28 g/100 g.
For (5 to 8) g/100 g fructose in molasses, the absolute difference between two results obtained under repeatability conditions should be not greater than 0.20 g/100 g.
The absolute difference between two results obtained on such samples under reproducibility conditions should be not greater than 0.41 g/100 g.
