ICUMSA Method GS2-25 (2007)
Material: Plantation White Sugar, Speciality Sugar, White Sugar
Analytes: Arsenic
Method Technique: Spectrophotometry
Abstract:
This method is suitable for the determination of arsenic in refined sugar products where the mass-fraction in the sample does not exceed 2 mg/kg.
The colour complex formed by arsenic in the sample is measured using a spectrophotometer at 540 nm.
The method has Accepted Status. Due to the low levels of As typically found in refined sugars, the precision for the method is unlikely to be high.
