Abstract:
This Standard describes the basis of the polarimetric determination of the sucrose content of sucrose-containing products. The valid wavelength range is (546 to 900) nm. The Standard is used in statutory analyses, trade analyses and for factory control. It is applicable to raw materials, intermediate and final products of the sugar industry. For practical applications, ICUMSA® recommends use of optical rotation values rounded to ± 0.001°, based on the precision in the measurement of the normal sucrose solution.
