Abstract:
Formerly Determination of Thermophilic Spore-Forming Bacteria in Refined Sugar Products by the Pour Plate Method or the Membrane Filter Method - Official. This Method is applicable to white sugar only but may be appropriate for other products (if validation of use is performed) for the determination of thermophilic spore-forming bacteria. Enumeration of the organisms is performed after using either a pour plate or membrane filtration procedure and incubation at 55 °C for (48 to 72) hours. Membrane filtration is used for samples containing a low-level of microorganisms and pour plating is used for samples containing higher numbers of microorganisms (>103 CFU).
