Abstract: This method is suitable for the enumeration of yeasts and moulds in refined sugars.
The method utilises two possible procedures, using either a pour plate technique (better for coloured sugars and higher levels of bacteria) or a filtration through a sterile membrane filter.
Samples are incubated at 30 °C for (72 to 120) hours.
