Method Technique:

Abstract:
The method first measures the total reducing sugars, as glucose, after hydrolysis of a clarified aqueous extract of the pulp. Multiplication of this result by 0.95 gives the apparent total sugar content of the beet pulp. This is not a precise measurement of sugar (see also Method GS4/3-9). The method is applicable to all samples of beet pulp. For beet pulp samples containing total apparent sugar contents in the range of (5 to 23) g/100 g, the absolute difference between two results obtained under repeatability conditions should be not greater than 0.94 g/100 g. The absolute difference between two results obtained under reproducibility conditions should be not greater than 1.11 g/100 g.
