Abstract:
This method is suitable to determine the sucrose and betaine content of beet molasses using High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC). A sodium-based cation exchange column is used in the HPLC to separate the measurands in the sample. The absolute difference between any two results obtained under repeatability conditions should not be greater than 0.9 g/100 g (sucrose) and 1.7 g/100 g (betaine) and under reproducibility conditions not greater than 1.7 g/100 g (sucrose) and 5.1 g/100 g (betaine).
