The 34th ICUMSA® Session will take place in Delhi, India from 3-5 March 2025. Together with the Sugar Technologists Association of India (STAI) the Officers of ICUMSA® have prepared an interesting and memorable programme. Registration is open and can be done using the website that has been launched for this event. Details about the programme, venue, accommodation, optional pre- and post-Session tours, visa and costs can be found on this website. Both ICUMSA® and STAI hope to see many of you in person at this Session.
Referees’ reports for the 34th Session need to be submitted to the General Secretary before 3 January 2025. The reports will be made available in the members’ section of the ICUMSA® website.
Proceedings 33rd Session and Methods Book Supplement 2024 available
Both the Proceedings of the 33rd ICUMSA® Session in Vienna and the ICUMSA® Methods Book Supplement 2024 are available for purchase in the Bartens webshop. We thank our Publications Committee and Publisher for their work in preparation of these publications. Please note that the Methods Book 2024 uses only the new (shortened) numbering system as introduced in 2019. This means that the secondary General Subject numbers have been eliminated now after the agreed transition period.
Although much care is taken to review ICUMSA® Methods prior to being published, ICUMSA® Method users may notice small errors or typos. It would be appreciated if notifications of these are reported to General Secretary Dr. Dierk Martin. In most cases, these types of small corrections can be directly made in the online version of the ICUMSA® Method without the need to change the version of the published Method.
New GS2 Referee
We are happy to announce that Ms. Monique Steegmans (Belgium) has taken up the role as Referee for GS2 White Sugar, after Ms. Carol Wambolt (USA) resigned from this position. Many of you will already know Monique since she has a long involvement with ICUMSA®, has attended many Sessions and is chair of the Belgian National ICUMSA® Committee. We wish her well with the work within GS2.
Referee Vacancies (S2 and S7)
Alan Mead (UK) has decided to step down as Referee for S7 Sampling, Sample Handling and Sample Preparation. We would like to take this opportunity to thank Alan for his contributions to ICUMSA® and the progress that has been achieved in this area under his lead. His resignation means that we need to find a successor for him as S7 Referee. In addition to this, we still have a vacancy for a Referee for Subject 2 – Method Format, Collaborative Testing and Statistical Treatment of Data. Persons who are interested in one of these positions or who have a suggestion for a candidate are cordially invited to contact one of the ICUMSA® Officers for more information.
ICUMSA® membership There has been interest from China and Guatemala for ICUMSA® membership. Information was provided by Dr. Dierk Martin about membership options and subscriptions. We hope that we may welcome both countries soon as new ICUMSA® members.
