Abstract:
This method is applicable to molasses and, on a tentative basis, raw sugars, speciality sugars and syrups in cane sugar processing. The moisture in the sample is determined by the Karl Fischer procedure using Karl Fischer volumetric titration equipment. For molasses samples with a water content between 16.9 g/100 g and 25.6 g/100 g, the absolute difference between two results obtained under repeatability conditions should not be greater than 0.46 g/100 g and under reproducibility conditions should not be greater than 2.24 g/100 g.
