Abstract:
This method is suitable for the determination of the ash content of raw sugar for samples with ash levels below 0.05 g/100 g. Sulphation of the sugar is undertaken prior to ignition at 525 °C - results are expressed as sulphated ash. The absolute difference between two results obtained under repeatability conditions should not be greater than 0.030 g/100 g and under reproducibility conditions not greater than 0.054 g/100 g.
